HackerRank open sourced its ATS. My resume scored 90/100. Oh wait 74. No – 88

“The volume of applicants is SO HIGH such that your chances of getting moved to the next stage are actually markedly worse if AI isn’t involved.”

This is the buying side of the entry, and it argues against the entry's own adjective. He says he has run technical hiring pipelines, and he is defending a screener that rejects the same resume most of the time: at the volume he describes, he thinks a noisy filter still beats no filter at all. Read that as the condition this category is actually sold into, not as demand for what the entry promises. The counts he puts on his own funnel are his recollection of his own hiring, so none of them are repeated here. Two things in the thread cut against him. The thread he is in exists because one unchanged resume, scored again and again by that same open-sourced system, came back with a different number each time — the title carries three of them — which is a problem for the word matching. And readers quoting that system's scoring prompt point out that it rewards open source work and side projects above employment history, which is a problem for the words bias-free: a rubric like that does not remove a human's bias, it fixes one in place and applies it to everybody. The top reply to him says the rest — a gate is only worth having if what it removes correlates with quality.
