FIRST USERS

How to find your first SaaS users without an audience

You do not need a large following to start learning from real demand. Start with people already describing the workflow, frustration or alternative search your SaaS is built for.

WHAT COUNTS AS SIGNAL

Look for evidence, not mentions.

01

Define the user before choosing the channel

Write down who feels the problem, what they are trying to accomplish and what your product can genuinely do today. A vague ICP makes every conversation look relevant.

  • Role or situation
  • Current workaround
  • Trigger that makes the problem urgent
  • Capabilities you can actually deliver
02

Search for the problem, not your category name

Early users rarely describe themselves using your positioning. Search for the language of the job: the broken workflow, the alternative they want, or the outcome they cannot reach.

03

Reject weak matches aggressively

A keyword mention is not demand. Reject stale posts, celebration posts, founder-only problems, wrong-ICP discussions and requests that require capabilities you do not have.

04

Open the original source before acting

The source should be inspectable. Read the whole conversation, understand the room, and decide whether a helpful manual response makes sense. Seek is a signal engine, not an excuse to spam.

05

Measure the first value moment

For an early acquisition loop, the useful metric is not how many leads were scraped. Track whether you found a relevant signal, opened the source, took a useful action and learned something that changes the next scan.

DON’T DO IT BY HAND.

We read the public web so you don’t have to.

The method on this page works. Running it every weekday is a job. The Daily 5 does the reading and sends you five real conversations where someone is asking for something that doesn’t exist yet — each one with its source, so you can judge it yourself.

Free. One email a day. Unsubscribe in one click.

THE DEMAND ALREADY EXISTS.

Stop guessing where the right conversations are.

Seek starts from your product and ICP, surfaces public conversations, explains why they match, and keeps the original source inspectable.
